  ⚠️ DISCRIMINATORY, RUSHED, HOSTILE TOUR. PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING. We took a 10-hour tour on May 9th with guide/driver Edgar via GetYourGuide, and the experience was very disappointing. The tour was significantly shorter than advertised. We left around 9:00 AM and returned to Reykjavik by about 5:00 PM, missing several hours of the promised itinerary with no clear explanation. The whole experience felt rushed. Communication throughout the day was very poor; questions about the schedule were often ignored, and we had to rely on other passengers for updates. We also felt uncomfortable with the driving, which included frequent speeding and aggressive behaviour on the road. Most concerning was a comment made to my grandfather after a minor medical-related burp, when the guide said, “This is not your country.” When we raised how inappropriate this was, it was dismissed as a “joke” rather than addressed. Later, a comment about opening windows due to a “smell” while we were eating felt targeted and retaliatory. Even though other passengers said they were not bothered when asked, the driver responded and added to the fire by saying: “Even if they did, they’d say no.” Overall, the tour felt rushed, poorly handled, and at times disrespectful and discriminatory. UPDATE MAY 13, 2026: The company’s handling of this afterward only made the experience more disappointing. Despite the seriousness of the complaint, we received no meaningful updates and never received the written apology we requested regarding the guide’s conduct. What stood out most was that they seemed far more concerned about the public review than the actual experience itself. They reached out almost immediately once a negative review was posted. It honestly made the review system feel less authentic, as though protecting reputation mattered more than addressing customer concerns. Instead of taking accountability, the focus became negotiating the lowest refund possible. In the end, GetYourGuide had to step in and resolve the issue because the tour company failed to handle it appropriately. Very disappointing experience both during and after the tour. If you do decide to book with this tour company, BEWARE of driver EDGAR. ⚠️ UPDATE MAY 14, 2026: The company’s response after this experience is very concerning because it contains several inconsistencies and doesn’t match what actually happened. They claimed their “internal review” included trainee guides and additional staff on our tour. That is simply not true. There were no trainee guides or extra staff on our tour at any point — only the driver/guide. This raises serious doubts about how the investigation was actually done. They also brought up a “no eating in the vehicle” policy to justify their response. This was never mentioned during the tour, never said by the driver, and is not clearly stated in the tour information we were given. We were eating simple, non-smelly food during a long travel day, and other passengers confirmed they weren’t bothered. After we raised concerns and left a public review, the tone of their responses also changed and felt more defensive and focused on discrediting our experience rather than addressing it. It came across as reactive rather than genuinely looking into what happened.

  Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights, even though we had 2 goes at it! Each trip took us to different places, and although the forecast was apparently very good on the second attempt, we still didn’t see any, despite the enthusiasm and knowledge of both guides. Laura was the perfect guide, with her knowledge and enthusiasm. The hot chocolate drink and pastries were very welcome, and the dark skies on the second night were quite spectacular on their own!

  The tour with Magda was super, she told us a lot of information about Landmannalaugar and the hike was really beautiful! Relaxing in the hot spring at the end was also very nice. All in all a great adventure 👍
