About this experience

Why This Route is Unrivaled

The standard Golden Circle is majestic, but it leaves the finest secrets undiscovered. Our meticulously crafted Iceland Golden Circle tour itinerary guarantees you witness the famous “Big Three” (Þingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss), while seamlessly integrating exclusive, off-the-beaten-path destinations.

Stand before the vivid cyan waters of Brúarfoss, navigate the dramatic basalt formations of Brúarhlöð canyon, and descend into the vibrant Kerið Volcanic Crater. This is not just a tour; it is the ultimate Icelandic expedition.

The Journey

1. Reykjavík Base

Your expedition commences. We depart from the capital city, leaving the urban landscape behind as we head directly into the striking, mythical volcanic terrains of South Iceland.

2. Þingvellir National Park

Walk the literal divide between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. A site of profound geological wonder and the historical birthplace of Alþingi, Iceland’s ancient parliament.

📷

3. Efstidalur II Farm

A boutique stop at a traditional family-run dairy farm. Indulge in artisanal, homemade ice cream and farm-to-table treats while observing the daily life of an authentic Icelandic homestead.

📷

4. Brúarfoss

Revered as ‘Iceland’s Bluest Waterfall’. Fed by the Brúará glacial river, this hidden marvel boasts an electric, unnatural cyan hue that provides the perfect contrast to the surrounding dark rock.

📷

5. Geysir Hot Springs

Traverse the steaming Haukadalur geothermal field. Stand in anticipation as Strokkur, a highly active geyser, violently erupts boiling water up to 30 meters into the sky every few minutes.

📷

6. Gullfoss Falls

Behold the raw majesty of the ‘Golden Waterfall’. Watch millions of gallons of glacial meltwater violently cascade down a two-tiered drop into a plunging, ancient canyon.

📷

7. Brúarhlöð Canyon

A dramatic, under-the-radar gorge where the Hvítá river forcefully squeezes through jagged, dark breccia rock pillars. A paradise for landscape photographers seeking tranquility.

📷

8. Kerið Crater

Conclude your journey walking the rim of a 3,000-year-old volcanic crater. The surreal contrast of its vivid sapphire lake against blood-red volcanic rock leaves a lasting imprint of Iceland’s raw beauty.

📷Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this tour different from the standard Golden Circle?

While standard tours only visit Thingvellir, Geysir, and Gullfoss, our premium itinerary includes 5 additional curated stops. You will experience the blue waters of Brúarfoss, taste local farm food at Efstidalur, see the Brúarhlöð canyon, and visit the Kerið Crater.

Are entrance fees to Kerið Crater included?

Yes, unlike many other operators, the entrance fee to the private land at Kerið Volcanic Crater is fully included in our luxury package.

How long is the hike to Brúarfoss?

Previously a long hike, there is now a dedicated parking area making the walk to the stunning blue waterfall just a short, manageable 5-10 minute stroll for our guests.

Cancellation for this tour

Free cancellation until 24 hours before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

If the weather cancels this tour

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a forecast the operator judges unsafe. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

  1. 1IceTransfer.is decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
  2. 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
  3. 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 1 day before departure, the operator's policy after that.

Sold out on your date?

Seats come back — a cancellation, or the operator adding a vehicle. Tell us the date and we will check once a day and email you if one opens. One email, then we delete the address; nothing else is ever sent to it.

Who this is not for

  • Not for late risers on your first morning — the earliest departure is 06:00, and Reykjavík pickups start before that.
  • Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.

Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.

Why we list it

IceTransfer.is is one of 154 operators we work with — chosen for reliability, honest descriptions and how they treat guests when weather changes plans. We don't list everything; we list what we'd book ourselves. The six checks every operator passes →

The company was great with good instruction, plans and price. I should also comment on their responsiveness, excellent! However, I will say the driver made our sudden and spontaneous stop in Iceland feel safe and secure. Punctual, knowleadgable and accommodating. Thank you Ibrahim for being there for us, from arrival to departure.

We booked an airport transfer with sight seeing with IceTransfer for party of 5 with loads of luggage. Hasan Al Haj came to KEF to pick us up. We took a long time because of our party. No issues at all! Hasan did a fabulous job with the sight seeing part. He observed our interest and actually made additional stop at a point of interest on the way. We arrived at our destination 5 minutes ahead of schedule. The guy timed everything to the T. If you come to Reykjavik to visit with a big group, IceTransfer is the way to go. Bravo to Hasan!

I had an excellent experience with IceTransfer during my trip to Iceland. Upon arrival at Keflavik Airport, I was warmly welcomed with my name displayed on a screen, which made the pickup very easy and professional. The journey was comfortable, the vehicle was clean, and our driver, Ihab, was very polite and professional. The team responded quickly to any inquiries, and communication was always easy and smooth. I highly recommend IceTransfer for anyone visiting Iceland.
