About this experience

Step off your cruise ship and into an unforgettable Icelandic adventure. This private 6-hour tour from Seyðisfjörður takes you deep into the dramatic Eastfjords landscape to witness the surreal beauty of Stuðlagil Canyon—famed for its towering basalt columns and glacial-blue river.

Departing directly from the cruise terminal, you'll journey with a local guide across scenic highland roads to reach one of the country's most visually arresting and lesser-known natural wonders. Along the way, enjoy tales of Iceland’s geology, folklore, and how this once-hidden canyon was only recently revealed by changing river flows from a hydroelectric dam.

A short walk at the canyon brings you to a safe panoramic view for photos and quiet appreciation of this geological marvel. Time permitting, we may also stop at Rjúkandi Waterfall or the historic Möðrudalur Farm for refreshments and local charm.

Why Cruise Guests Love This Tour:

  • Custom-timed to fit cruise ship schedules
  • Stress-free pick-up and drop-off at the port
  • Small group format with expert local guidance
  • Access to a stunning natural site rarely seen on typical cruise excursions

We had a great time on our Iceland Folklore tour. Our guide was Einar. He was a fantastic storyteller!! Hidden people/elves, trolls and ghost stories - and a lot of Icelandic history. Thank you Einar!!

Petra was an incredible guide. We asked her to show us as much as she could before taking our crazy family of 10 to the airport for our flights to three different cities ! First stop was the beautiful church in downtown Reykjavik that had just opened with an organ recital. Next stop a lovely spot and observation sight overlooking the city by the Pearl. Cold and wet she found us a lovely coffee shop with the best pastries for a welcome mid morning rest next to the sea. Back in the van we drove for a bit before having the opportunity to explore a geothermal field on our way to the airport. A perfect day and ending to our time in Iceland. Petra shared alot of history and information from the perspective of a local which we all appreciated and enjoyed!

Nice walking trip in Reykjavik city centre with our local guide Hrafn, very friendly and knowledgeable. A good introduction to Iceland on the very first day of our 2 weeks road-trip around the island 👍
