About this experience

Welcome to the Reindeer Park in Egilsstaðir – a unique and heartwarming experience in East Iceland.

Our park is home to four rescued reindeer: two four-year-old males and two one-year-old females. Each of them was abandoned as a calf by their mothers and herds due to various circumstances, but here, they’ve found a safe and loving environment to thrive.

They now live on a vast open area where visitors can meet them up close, feed them, spend time with them, and learn their individual stories. Our knowledgeable guides are always on hand to share fascinating facts about these incredible Arctic animals and answer your questions.

This is a perfect adventure for all ages – especially families with children. For the little ones, meeting a real-life "Sven" from Frozen can be a truly magical experience they’ll never forget

Good to know

All you need to bring is your curiosity – bringing your own food for the reindeer is not recommended, as they follow a carefully managed diet here at the park. Our staff will provide special food so that guests still have the chance to feed our beloved animals

In case of any other limitations, one of our staff members can step outside the park to share all the stories and facts about the reindeer – and even bring one of them to meet visitors outside in exceptional cases

Cancellation for this tour

No refund once booked. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

Oh my god!!! This place is fantastic!!! You can get very close to the animals, even feed them with some bread. They have 2 males, 2 females and a baby (june 2026). They were rescued from nature and they have been there for around 5 years - very well taken care off. The woman working there is lovely and explained a lot about the animals.

My family loved the Reindeer park. The staff was amazing and explained everything about the rescues and the baby. We were able to feed and pet them. We even got to see the baby reindeer drinking milk from a bottle and rub his soft coat. We were able to be with the mother and baby reindeer- it was an incredible experience!! I recommend this park 100 percent. Best experience

🦌What an amazing experience!🦌 This was my first time ever meeting reindeer up close, and I absolutely loved it. ❤️ The reindeer looked calm, relaxed, and very well cared for. It was clear to me that the animals' wellbeing is a priority here. I also really appreciated how knowledgeable and passionate the staff were. They answered all of my questions about the reindeer and their care in great detail and provided professional and interesting information. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The setting of the centre is beautiful, surrounded by trees and nature, which makes the whole experience feel peaceful and magical. The reindeer have a large area to roam, and the entire place gives the impression that the animals are respected and looked after with great care. There is even a month old reindeer baby. 😍 Meeting these adorable animals for the first time was truly unforgettable. I would highly recommend visiting this centre to anyone travelling in East Iceland (near Egilsstaðir)– it is definitely worth a visit!

  • Reindeer in Iceland: where to see themWild reindeer live only in East Iceland. You are most likely to see them near the Ring Road in winter; in summer they are in the highlands and the sure thing is a park.
