About this experience

The Snæfellsnes Peninsula packs more Iceland into a single stretch of coastline than anywhere else in the country - lava fields, glacier, black sand beaches, basalt cliffs, fishing villages, and a church so black it looks like it was painted by the landscape itself. This private day tour covers all of it, at a pace that lets you actually stop and take it in.

The drive west from Reykjavík opens onto Selvallavatn lake and the surrounding lava formations before the road curves north toward Kirkjufell. Iceland's most photographed mountain needs no introduction, but it earns its reputation in person - the arrowhead summit rising straight from the shore, Kirkjufellsfoss tumbling in front of it. By midday, the tour pauses for a local lunch built around fresh, Icelandic ingredients at a restaurant on the peninsula.

The afternoon belongs to the southern shore. Djúpalónssandur is a black pebble beach hemmed in by moss-covered lava, where the old fishermen's lifting stones still sit exactly where they were left. Arnarstapi follows - a small fishing town perched above basalt cliffs that plunge into the surf, rich in birdlife and older folklore. The day closes at Búðakirkja, a lone black church set against glacier and mountain, one of the most quietly striking sights on the entire peninsula.

Cancellation for this tour

Free cancellation until 7 days before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

Who this is not for

  • Not a good fit if you want a relaxed day: 11 hours is a long time on the road, most of it spent getting there and back.
  • Not for last-minute planners — free cancellation ends 7 days before, longer than most tours here.

Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.

Alessandro from Easy Travel was amazing. He is a true relationship builder who introduced us to Iceland and Easy. This is not your standard bus tour, Alessandro spends time to understand you and tailor experiences that matter to you. We would use Easy again when back in Iceland.

What an amazing Icelandic tour we had today with Alessandro from Easy Travel Iceland! His knowledge of Iceland, and of the world at large, is impressive. He met our criteria including a focus on the nature, finding sites without tourists, minimizing the drive times between sites. Alessandro was keen to tailor the day to our desired pace and interests. The Friodheimar GreenHouse venue was inspiring and such a great fit with our interests. Thank you Alessandro, for your attention to detail and for your capacity to make this day a riveting experience.
