About this experience

Snæfellsnes Peninsula, often regarded as one of the world's major cosmic energy centers, is a paradise for sea and bird life enthusiasts. This captivating region is dominated by the glacier covered dormant Snæfellsnes volcano, the inspiration behind Jules Verne’s classic novel, "Journey to the Center of the Earth," and the muse for Iceland’s Nobel Prize winner, Halldór Kiljan Laxness.

The adventure begins at the charming hamlet of Búðir. Here, remnants of the old fishing village linger, marked by a quaint church and graveyard that offer picturesque views perfect for photography. Next, we visit the small fishing village of Arnarstapi. Known for its charming port, Arnarstapi is home to the stunning Gatklettur (Hellnar Arch), a natural arch sculpted by the sea's relentless force. Towering above the village is Mt. Stapafell, a palagonitic pyramid that adds to the town's scenic beauty.

Our journey continues into Snæfellsjökull National Park, where we explore Djúpalónssandur. This striking black pebble beach is framed by dramatic cliffs, creating a surreal and breathtaking landscape. Heading north, we reach Kirkjufell (Church Mountain), one of Iceland’s most photographed landmarks. This beautifully shaped mountain stands near the town of Grundarfjörður. Across the road lies Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall, offering a stunning photographic opportunity when captured together with the mountain.

As we journey back to Reykjavík, we pass by Hraunsfjörður Bay, where a scenic lake popular for fishing creates a beautiful backdrop, especially during sunset. This picturesque area, with its tranquil waters and surrounding landscape, offers a final glimpse of Iceland's natural beauty as we head back to the city. The drive provides an opportunity to reflect on the day's adventures and capture a few last memorable photos of the serene Icelandic countryside, rounding off a day filled with awe-inspiring sights and unforgettable experiences.

Cancellation for this tour

Free cancellation until 2 days before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

If the weather cancels this tour

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a forecast the operator judges unsafe. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

  1. 1Amazing Tours Iceland decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
  2. 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
  3. 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 2 days before departure, the operator's policy after that.

Sold out on your date?

Seats come back — a cancellation, or the operator adding a vehicle. Tell us the date and we will check once a day and email you if one opens. One email, then we delete the address; nothing else is ever sent to it.

Who this is not for

  • Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.

Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.

We personally had a great service (specifically Dominika ) from amazing tours. I emailed and dealt with them/her directly for a deal on 3 tours . Snowmobiling , helicopter and Northern lights. All were amazing! Northern lights are a natural occurrence and whilst seeing in bright green with the naked eye wasn't possible that night we did still see it faintly and the host was amazing and took some great shots and supplied some home made Coco 🤗the helicopter tour of the volcano area was so surreal! And the snowmobile tour was one of my favourite tours ever ! We got so lucky with snow the night before. Great tour operator and highly recommended !

My friend and I were looking forward to this tour the most for our girls trip to Iceland and we were not disappointed! This was one of the best tours I've done while traveling abroad and such a great value. Close out of any other tabs you have open for snowmobiling, this is it! Not rushed, fun ride up to the glacier where you change, and get on your snowmobile. After the first leg of snowmobiling, your guide will take you to a newly discovered ice cave...its truly beautiful! After that, you'll snowmobile back. Our tour was filled with laughs, jokes, and informative facts about the glacier, ice cave, etc. Please don't pass this one up!

My family enjoyed snowmobiling at the glacier. The view is amazing and the experience was one of a kind. They give you all the gear you need for the cold weather, which was nice. It is super cold at the top of the mountain, so hand and feet warmers are handy, if you could get some in advance!
