Booking terms for hotel stays
The short version: you pay us the price you saw, we book the room with the hotel, and if you cancel you get back what the hotel's own terms allow, a day earlier than the hotel's deadline.
Paying
- The price is confirmed with the hotel the moment you press Continue to payment. It is the whole stay, for the rooms and guests you chose.
- Your card is charged by Iceland Trip Planner (Formáli ehf.). We then book the room with the hotel. You get a confirmation email with our reference and, where the hotel gives one, theirs.
- If the hotel will not take the booking after you have paid, you get a full refund, and an email saying so straight away.
- Some hotels add the lodging tax at the desk. Where that applies, it says so next to the price before you pay.
Cancelling
- Every rate comes with the hotel's own cancellation terms, for example "free until two days before check-in, then the full price". You see them before you pay, with exact dates.
- You keep the same share the hotel keeps. If the hotel's terms say 50% is charged at the time you cancel, we keep 50% of what you paid and refund the rest.
- Every deadline is 24 hours earlier than the hotel's. That is the time we need to cancel with the hotel after your email reaches us. The dates we show you already include it.
- Some rates are non-refundable. They are marked as such, and nothing is refunded if they are cancelled.
- A no-show is charged in full.
- To cancel, reply to your confirmation email or write to [email protected] with your reference. The time your email reaches us is the time we use.
- Refunds go back to the card you paid with and normally show within 5–10 days.
Tours on the same trip
Rooms and tours are paid for in separate checkouts, and each keeps its own cancellation terms. Cancelling one does not cancel the other.
