This truly was one of the most magical moments of my life. Riding a beautiful Icelandic horse along a trail through fields of lupines and wildflowers, crossing streams with a backdrop of majestic mountains, was an unforgettable experience. My horse was a little feisty, trotting around the other riders before suddenly stopping to snack on flowers along the trail, but overall, he was a dream to ride. The staff at the farm were fantastic—friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. They offer a variety of outerwear to help you layer up for the ride, which I gladly took advantage of since it was quite cool and breezy. We also used their shuttle service, which provides transportation from multiple pickup locations in Reykjavik to the farm, making the trip incredibly convenient. I highly recommend Laxnes Horse Farm for anyone looking for a spectacular Icelandic horse riding experience.

Perfect experience. 3 of us (with many years riding experience with Icelandic horses) went on the advanced tour - the horses were nicely trained and knew what they were doing. The scenery was beautiful and just a lovely family run farm! If you are not used to fast rides (with lots of Tölt) then I would recommend a lower ride!

Had. Fun experience. Did the 1.5-2 hour tour. I do wish the staff introduced themselves (with their names). They all did an excellent job. They made sure everyone was comfortable and when we took a break, one of the gentleman went around to make sure all saddles and gear were still set properly. Afterwards, we had an opportunity to feed the horses and then had some coffee in the little lounge area. All in all, a great time. And my horse, “Animal”, was the best!

We went to this riding stable based on reviews and feedback while we were planning our two week long trip to Iceland. It is located just outside of Reykjavik and is in very beautiful countryside. We were so impressed with the ride the first day and the Icelandic horses that on our last day of our trip, which was a free day, we decided to go back and spend the entire day at the farm. Of the four of us, one is a professional trail guide here in the states, one is a dressage rider, one is a high dollar show owner/rider, and the last (myself) is an intermediate pleasure rider. We took holiday in Iceland specifically to do equestrian outings and visit the countryside. We rode twice on our second visit, once on the 2-hour in the morning and then we had lunch at the barn which we brought, and then we rode the 2-hour again in the afternoon. I was able to ride Horsey Jesus, aka Happy Treat, twice out of the three and I SO wanted to stuff him in my suitcase and bring him home. Alas, he wouldnt fit. 😭 I also loved Yrsa, who was sure-footed, gentle, and fun. It was a nice challenge trying to get her to tolt instead of trot and I learned a lot from both horses about the tolt, how to sit it, and how to communicate what I wanted them to do. I cannot say enough good things about the family who owns it, the patriarch who serves coffee and pastries afterwards, the son who runs the business, or the crew who work there. If you want an authentic, genuine, and caring ride experience, I highly recommend this facility. They care for their horses and treat them like honored family members. It is such a different experience than you get in the States. A+++. I'd give them ten stars if I could. Please go see this family owned facility and give Horsey Jesus a scratch or two for me.

What is Laxnes's cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start. The exact window is printed on every tour page and in your confirmation, and a refund goes back to the card you paid with.

Where do Laxnes tours start?

Their departures we sell start from Reykjavík, Mosfellsbær, Mosfellsdalur. Check the map on each tour page for the exact meeting point.

Yes, on 2 of their 3 tours, the lowest being 7. The rest set no minimum. The planner filters by your youngest traveller if you give it ages.

How is Laxnes rated?
