Would this be cheaper direct? No — we sell at Icelandic Roamers's own price and take our commission from them, not from you. What you get here is one checkout across operators, one confirmation, and one place to change or cancel it. If you ever find it cheaper on their own site, tell us and we will match it or explain why we cannot.

About this experience
Burnt orange ridges, steaming valleys, endless shades of yellow, red and white – Kerlingarfjöll is one of Iceland’s most breathtaking Highland treasures. Accessible only by rough mountain roads and wild river crossings, it’s a place where the raw forces of fire and ice are painted across the landscape. With us, you’ll discover this hidden wonder in the comfort of a powerful Super Jeep built for true off-road adventures.
The journey itself is part of the experience. We’ll leave the smooth paved roads behind and head deep into the Highlands, where gravel tracks twist through black deserts and volcanic plains. Crossing untamed rivers and weaving through barren valleys, you’ll feel the thrill of Iceland at its wildest.
As the Super Jeep climbs closer to the mountains, the scenery transforms dramatically. Soon, we’ll reach the geothermal heart of Kerlingarfjöll – a surreal world of steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pots and colorful rhyolite peaks. The contrast of hot earth against the cool glacier-fed rivers creates a photographer’s dream: endless opportunities to capture Iceland’s most unique natural palette.
We’ll hike among the geothermal valleys, wander across wooden bridges over steaming streams, and admire panoramic views of this mystical mountain range. Every turn reveals a new perspective, a new mix of colors and textures, as if nature itself decided to paint with fire and water.
Before heading back to Reykjavík, we’ll make one last stop at Gullfoss – Iceland’s “Golden Waterfall.” Its thundering cascades plunging into a rugged canyon are the perfect finale to a day filled with the raw beauty of the Highlands.
And you won’t just take memories – you’ll also take home professional photographs. Your guide, an experienced photographer, will capture the magic of the journey and deliver a package of 20 edited images: portraits, landscapes and candid moments, included in the price.
Kerlingarfjöll is not just a destination – it’s an adventure into the beating heart of Iceland’s Highlands, crowned by a visit to one of the country’s most iconic waterfalls.

Cancellation for this tour
Free cancellation until 2 days before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.
If the weather cancels this tour
Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is closed F-roads or a highland storm — decided by the Road Administration and the driver. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.
- 1Icelandic Roamers decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
- 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
- 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.
What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 2 days before departure, the operator's policy after that.

Sold out on your date?
Seats come back — a cancellation, or the operator adding a vehicle. Tell us the date and we will check once a day and email you if one opens. One email, then we delete the address; nothing else is ever sent to it.
Who this is not for
- Not a good fit if you want a relaxed day: 11 hours is a long time on the road, most of it spent getting there and back.
- Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.
Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.
Why we list it
Icelandic Roamers is one of 154 operators we work with — chosen for reliability, honest descriptions and how they treat guests when weather changes plans. We don't list everything; we list what we'd book ourselves. The six checks every operator passes →
