2,5h Trail Ride for Intermediate Riders — Hestaland

Would this be cheaper direct? No — we sell at Hestaland's own price and take our commission from them, not from you. What you get here is one checkout across operators, one confirmation, and one place to change or cancel it. If you ever find it cheaper on their own site, tell us and we will match it or explain why we cannot.

About this experience

Trial rides with a prep lesson.
Explore Iceland’s stunning landscape on horseback. We take the time to give each rider a prep lesson in our indoor arena before heading out on the trail. This ensures you’ll be confident, comfortable and prepared for your ride. This ride is for intermediate riders who are comfortable controlling their horse at faster gaits. We’ll enjoy varied terrain and mountain views while experiencing the Icelandic horse in its natural environment. A perfect balance of adventure, beautiful scenery and connection with the horse.

Description from the operator, Hestaland. Prices and availability in the booking panel are live.

Included

Good to know

Please bring weather-appropriate clothing. We recommend warm layers, sturdy footwear, and gloves depending on the season. Icelandic weather can change quickly, so dressing in layers is always a good idea.

Cancellation for this tour

Cancelling costs 50% of the price within 5 days of departure, rising to 75% within 3 days. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

If the weather cancels this tour

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a forecast the operator judges unsafe. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

  1. 1Hestaland decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
  2. 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
  3. 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until the cutoff shown above, the operator's policy after that.

This experience at Hestaland was a peak experience. I couldn’t stop smiling all week. The people, the horse, the landscape and community warmed my heart and spirit.

Wonderful staff and beautiful horses. The guide made sure everyone got to experience the tilt gate the horses are known for. Nice ride along a little river with small waterfalls and rapids. At one point the guide stopped and took our picture.

Great place to go horseback riding! It was something I really wanted to do on our trip and the team here definitely delivered, our guide was patient and the views were stunning. I went with my family and all of us were beginner riders (read: pretty much never ridden horses before) and were able to have a pleasant ride. My mom’s horse was being stubborn and not very willing to walk so our guide tied its reins to her horse and chatted with my mom the whole ride — guess she got an exclusive tour haha! We went for one hour with a half hour prep/training beforehand. They have you do some small loops indoors to practice getting ahold of controlling the reins. At the furthest point of the ride the guide took a family photo for us and we headed back.

Had such a lovely morning horse ride here, Kirsty our guide was knowledgable and friendly with the cutest little dog! We were very lucky and managed to book onto a small trail ride the night before. The scenery is lovely and I would highly recommend!
