Good to know

We recommend travelers check the weather forecast for southern Iceland and dress accordingly.

This is a private tour in a private vehicle. Your driver will attend to your needs if you need any assistance. This is a family friendly tour and vehicles can be supplied with child seats included with no extra charge. We offer wheelchair accessible vehicles for travelers with limited mobility.

Cancellation for this tour

Cancelling costs 50% of the price within 2 days of departure. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

If the weather cancels this tour

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a forecast the operator judges unsafe. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

  1. 1Prime Tours decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
  2. 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
  3. 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until the cutoff shown above, the operator's policy after that.

Who this is not for

  • Not a good fit if you want a relaxed day: 12 hours is a long time on the road, most of it spent getting there and back.
  • Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.

Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.

While I booked a wheelchair-friendly tour from Iceland Unlimited, they ended up being a middle-man for another company, which in this case, was Prime Tours. But, I'm so glad it happened! This tour company and tour guide were absolutely amazing! From a wheelchair user's standpoint, it was great. The van was neither too large nor too small. Our guide helped out with everything from pushing up a ramp to transfers to a seat in the van. And whatever else I may've needed as a wheelchair user, our guide would gladly have tried to help us out with! From a tour perspective, our guide was GREAT! He knew history, geology, social issues and so much more. He never got tired of my questions, and he enjoyed sharing all about his country with us. One of my favorite memories is going through a gift shop and while my wife was finding some things, he was telling me more about the elves, trolls, and runes I've been seeing on things. Also, the bus itself was smaller than larger tour busses so we got to travel to some places that a larger tour could not. And, of course, Iceland itself is just plain beautiful! So, thank you, Prime Tours for your great job! I don't think I can recommend you enough to other perspective users! If we ever get back there, I hope to connect with you all again.

Not to be trusted! Had a bus reserved from and to Keflavik airport and they failed miserably. On monday there was no bus to pick our group from the airport, apparently the driver had missed his appointment and not left to the airport. Got a replacement bus 2 hours later, with an angry driver and no apologies. On friday we called to make sure our bus was ok for saturday and they said it was set and secure. On saturday, no bus! Tried calling and the only answer was that someone will call back which never happened. Finally the bus arrived 1 hour late and with no excuses or apologies. So if You book with this company, please book 1 or 2 hours earlier than when you need their bus.
