About this experience
The tours start every day at 10:00 and are approx. 1 1/2 – 2 hours. This tour is perfect for beginners to experienced riders, families and riders who would love to ride the Icelandic horse in its natural surrounding.
We will ride along the mighty river Þjórsá and get a great view of the powerful volcano Mountain Hekla while enjoying the southern countryside.
Our farmers breed and train their own horses so they know their horses like family members and will find a perfect horse for your riding ability.

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is wind on the ridge or a change in eruption activity — civil protection decides, not the operator. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

- 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
- 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.
What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until the cutoff shown above, the operator's policy after that.

I did the Kerlingarfjöll Tour and it was great. The places we stayed at were alright (as depicted online) but the guides were really great and the horses were well looked after. It was definitely an adventure (and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!)

I just got back from a 4-day trek with Islandshestar. What a great experience! Sophie and Hanse are wonderful hosts, along with Hanse's parents. Excellent horses. I just finished a 6 day tour of Snaefellsnes Penisula. This was my first tour and it exceeded all my expectations!. Asberg and Sigga were friendly and very knowledgeable. Our guide Magdalena was fantastic. She was attentive to our needs, shared information about the area and Iceland in general and made everyone feel welcome. I have fallen in lo e with Iceland,Islandic horses and can't wait to book my next tour with Islandshestar.
