About this experience
Experience Iceland’s youngest volcanic landscapes on a private, family-friendly adventure on the Reykjanes Peninsula, perfectly balanced with time to relax at the iconic Sky Lagoon. This carefully designed tour combines gentle exploration, education, and comfort- ideal for families traveling with children.
Begin the day with a safe, easy volcano hike across recent lava fields formed by Iceland’s newest eruptions. The route is selected to suit families, with a relaxed pace, frequent breaks, and clear paths. Your private local guide explains volcanic activity in a simple, engaging way, helping children understand how Iceland is constantly being shaped by fire and earth- without long hikes or difficult terrain.
The Reykjanes Peninsula is a fascinating introduction to Iceland’s geology, offering wide-open views, dramatic lava formations, and a sense of standing on a living landscape. Kids love seeing where the earth has recently changed, while parents appreciate the calm pacing and flexibility of a private tour.
After the hike, the experience shifts from exploration to relaxation at Sky Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most beautiful geothermal spas. While adults unwind in the warm, ocean-facing lagoon, the visit is timed and planned with families in mind, ensuring a smooth, unhurried transition from adventure to rest. (Access and timing can be adapted depending on children’s ages and family preferences.)
This tour is 100% private, allowing your family to move at your own rhythm, avoid crowds, and enjoy both nature and relaxation without stress. Every detail is planned with safety, comfort, and family enjoyment at the forefront- so parents can relax and children stay curious and engaged.

Cancellation for this tour
Free cancellation until 24 hours before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.
If the weather cancels this tour
Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is wind on the ridge or a change in eruption activity — civil protection decides, not the operator. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.
- 1Taste Iceland decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
- 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
- 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.
What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 1 day before departure, the operator's policy after that.
Questions on the day: [email protected] · +354 497 1373. How cancellations work in Iceland →
Sold out on your date?
Seats come back — a cancellation, or the operator adding a vehicle. Tell us the date and we will check once a day and email you if one opens. One email, then we delete the address; nothing else is ever sent to it.
Who this is not for
- Not for families with children under 12 — the operator will not take them, even with a parent.
- Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.
Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.
Why we list it

We did the South Coast tour with Tomasz. We had an incredible day. Tomasz is an amazing guide - super friendly, and really knowledgeable about Iceland. He knows all the places to go to avoid too many other tourists. The glacier hike was definitely the highlight - Tomasz is very experienced and provided all the kit, he took care of us and made us feel at ease. Could not recommend Tomasz and Taste Iceland more highly!

We went on a tour around the Snaefellsnes peninsula with Tomasz, which we booked with him after spending a fantastic day with him earlier in the week. Tomasz makes personalised adjustments to the tours so you’re not just seeing the big highlights but also some of the lesser visited sights, including some which are off the tourist track altogether. He’s super knowledgeable about Iceland and passionate about what he does so you get a truly informed and enjoyable experience. The Snaefellsnes peninsula itself is stunningly beautiful, with a new and awe inspiring view around every corner. Less touristy than the golden circle and south coast tours but more than worth exploring!

A trip to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula with Taste Iceland was much more than just sightseeing. It was a true feast for the soul, filled with admiration for Iceland's nature, history, and unique atmosphere. Snæfellsnes is rightly called "Iceland in miniature." In a single day, you can see everything this country has to offer. Rugged cliffs, majestic mountains, lava fields, black sand beaches, and picturesque villages create landscapes that will linger in your memory for a long time. The real highlight of this trip, however, was our guide, Tomek. His knowledge of Iceland is impressive, but even more impressive is the way he tells the story. He made every place take on a new meaning. The island's history, local legends, geology, nature, and the everyday lives of Icelanders intertwine into a fascinating story that you'd want to listen to over and over again. It's clear that Tomek loves Iceland and shares his knowledge with immense passion. Thanks to this, you don't just admire beautiful views, but truly experience and understand this extraordinary country. If you dream of Iceland, want to see its most beautiful corners, and at the same time hear stories told by people who know and love the island, tours with Taste Iceland are the best choice. Thank you for a day full of emotion, delight, and memories that will stay with me for a very long time.

- Blue Lagoon on the way in or the way out — pair it with your airport transferThe Blue Lagoon is twenty minutes from Keflavík. Soak on arrival day or departure day, and why we'd do it on the way in almost every time.
- Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon or Secret Lagoon — pick by what your day looks likeThree hot lagoons near Reykjavík, three very different days. We say which one fits an airport day, a city evening and a Golden Circle loop.
- Bolt the Secret Lagoon onto the Golden Circle, not the Blue LagoonSecret Lagoon, Blue Lagoon or Fontana as the hot-water finish to a Golden Circle day. Which is on the route, which fits the budget, which to book separately.

Lagoons & spas — questions people ask
Is the Blue Lagoon worth it or is it too touristy?
It is busy and it is worth it, once. The water is milky blue from silica, the setting in the Reykjanes lava is unlike anywhere else, and it sits twenty minutes from Keflavík Airport, so it fits an arrival or departure day. Book a time slot in advance; it sells out. If crowds bother you, go early morning or after 20:00. The Secret Lagoon or Fontana on the Golden Circle are calmer and cheaper alternatives.
Can I do the Blue Lagoon on the way to or from the airport?
Yes, and it is the best way to use it. Transfers like IceTransfer's Keflavík to Blue Lagoon to Reykjavík (/experience/1036423/) or the reverse (/experience/1036419/) stop at the lagoon for a few hours with your luggage stored. Allow at least three hours at the lagoon and check that your slot lines up with your flight. Note that the Reykjanes eruptions have closed the lagoon at short notice; check its status before travelling.
What is the difference between the Secret Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon?
The Secret Lagoon at Flúðir is a simple, warm geothermal pool with a bubbling hot spring beside it and basic changing rooms. It is on the Golden Circle, so it slots into a sightseeing day (/experience/17050/, /experience/624446/). The Blue Lagoon is a spa: silica masks, swim-up bar, saunas and a price to match. If you want a soak after a day of waterfalls, Secret Lagoon. If you want the spa day, Blue Lagoon.
Do I have to shower naked before a pool in Iceland?
Yes, at every public pool and most lagoons. Swimwear off, wash thoroughly with soap, swimwear on, then into the water. It is a hygiene rule because Icelandic pools use very little chlorine, and it is taken seriously. Changing rooms are single-sex with open showers; some larger lagoons have a few private cubicles. Nobody looks. It feels odd for thirty seconds and then it does not.
