The tour begins with visits to two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls. At Seljalandsfoss, travellers can walk behind the cascading water for a unique and immersive perspective. Nearby, Skógafoss impresses with its sheer power and scale, often creating rainbows in the mist on clear days.

The journey continues to Sólheimajökull, where a short walk leads to a viewpoint overlooking the glacier tongue and glacial lagoon. This stop offers a striking view of Iceland’s glaciers and a clear visual insight into their changing nature, without stepping onto the ice.

During the summer season, the tour includes a visit to Dyrhólaey, a dramatic coastal viewpoint known for its massive rock arch, sweeping ocean views, and seabird cliffs. From here, travellers enjoy panoramic views over the South Coast’s black sand beaches.

Good to know

Travellers should dress for Iceland’s changing weather, as the tour takes place primarily outdoors. Warm, layered clothing is recommended, along with a waterproof and windproof jacket.

Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are advised due to gravel paths and uneven terrain at several stops. A hat and gloves are useful, especially outside the summer months.

It is recommended to bring a small day bag, a refillable water bottle, and any personal items needed throughout the day. Sunglasses and sunscreen can be helpful, even on cloudy days. Snacks or money for food are also advised, as meals and drinks are not included but can be purchased during the tour.

The South Coast Day Tour is suitable for most travellers and does not require a high level of physical fitness. The tour includes short walks on uneven or gravel paths at several locations, so participants should be comfortable walking short distances outdoors.

The experience is not wheelchair accessible due to natural terrain, stairs, and uneven surfaces at multiple stops. Infant seats can be provided upon request, but this must be arranged in advance. Children of all ages are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 1 day before departure, the operator's policy after that.
