About this experience

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Iceland's remote Westfjords on this private 4-hour tour from Ísafjörður to the magnificent Dynjandi Waterfall. Travel through dramatic fjords, towering mountains, and impressive mountain tunnels while enjoying some of the country's most spectacular and unspoiled landscapes. Designed for cruise passengers and independent travelers, this experience offers a relaxed pace and personalized journey through one of Iceland's most scenic regions.

The highlight of your adventure is Dynjandi Waterfall, often called the "Pearl of the Westfjords." Located at the end of the beautiful Arnarfjörður fjord, this iconic waterfall is made up of seven cascading tiers that resemble a flowing bridal veil. Follow the scenic walking trail toward the falls for incredible views, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Sturdy footwear is recommended, as the mist can make parts of the trail slippery, and restroom facilities are available near the parking area.

On the return journey, visit the historic farmstead of Hrafnseyri, nestled along the northern shore of Arnarfjörður. This picturesque site is the birthplace of Jón Sigurðsson, the leader of Iceland's independence movement, and features traditional turf-roofed buildings, a charming church, and the Jón Sigurðsson Museum. Surrounded by dramatic scenery and rich saga history, Hrafnseyri offers a fascinating insight into Iceland's cultural heritage.

During the summer months, weather and road conditions may allow the return journey to follow one of the scenic highland mountain passes, such as Hrafnseyrarheiði or Álftamýrarheiði, offering unforgettable panoramic views across the Westfjords. When these routes are unavailable, the tour returns through the mountain tunnels, providing an equally spectacular perspective. Combining breathtaking natural wonders, fascinating history, and unforgettable landscapes, this private 4-hour excursion is the perfect way to experience one of Iceland's most beautiful and least-visited regions in comfort and at your own pace.

My sister and I booked a Golden Circle tour with Nordur Travel. They communicated well with us prior to the trip providing pick up details and any changes to the programme. Lara the guide was very good - friendly and informative and considered the needs of the group. I would happily recommend the company.

Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights, even though we had 2 goes at it! Each trip took us to different places, and although the forecast was apparently very good on the second attempt, we still didn’t see any, despite the enthusiasm and knowledge of both guides. Laura was the perfect guide, with her knowledge and enthusiasm. The hot chocolate drink and pastries were very welcome, and the dark skies on the second night were quite spectacular on their own!

The tour with Magda was super, she told us a lot of information about Landmannalaugar and the hike was really beautiful! Relaxing in the hot spring at the end was also very nice. All in all a great adventure 👍
