Private Golden Circle tour price: what you pay
A private Golden Circle tour lists from €450 to about €1,100. Here is what moves the price, and when a private day beats a seat on the bus.

The short version
- Listed private Golden Circle prices run from about €450 to €1,100 and up for the same three stops.
- Private tours are normally priced for the vehicle, not per seat, so the number only makes sense divided by your group.
- Longer days and add-ons (hot spring, rafting, Kerið) explain most of the gap between the cheap and dear listings.
- For one or two people a small-group seat is far cheaper; private starts to make sense at four or more.
A private Golden Circle tour lists from about €450 to just over €1,100 in our catalogue, for the same three stops: Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss. The price is for the vehicle and driver-guide, not per head, so divide it by your group before you compare it with a bus seat. For four people it can be a fair deal. For one or two it rarely is.
What the price buys
You get a driver-guide, a car or minibus to yourselves, and a schedule you set. You can stay at Gullfoss for an hour or skip the geyser queue. Nobody waits for the slowest person on the bus, and nobody waits for you.
The listed adult price on these private products looks like a flat group rate. Check the group size on the checkout page before you trust the arithmetic, because operators set the vehicle limit differently.
The range, cheapest to dearest
Golden Circle Private Tour from Iceland Nature Tours is the low end at €450 for seven hours. It meets on location or picks up, and offers English and Chinese.
Private Golden Circle Day Tour from Andy Iceland Guide is €800 for nine hours, in English. Nine hours is long; it leaves room for a slow lunch.
Golden Circle Private Tour From Reykjavik from Hyper Taxi is €987 for six hours with pickup. This is the shorter, more transfer-like version.
Private Premium Jeep or Van Tour with Hot Spring is €1,064 for eight hours and includes a hot spring stop. You pay for the bath and the nicer vehicle.
Private Golden Circle tour from Pickmeup.is is €1,101 for seven hours. The listing calls it luxury.
If you want something active, Private Golden Circle & River Rafting is €829 for ten hours. The rafting is the reason for the price, and it is summer only.
What moves the number
Hours, vehicle size and add-ons. A six-hour run with no extras is the cheapest way to do it. Add a hot spring, a farm lunch, Kerið or a raft and the price climbs fast. The driver’s language matters too: a German or Dutch-speaking guide often costs more than an English one.
Cheap is not automatically bad here. €450 for seven hours is a real price. But with very low listings, read what is included and whether pickup is part of it. “Meet on location” can mean you drive yourself to the start.
Private or small group?
Do the sum. A small-group Golden Circle seat is roughly a tenth of a private day, so two people on a €1,000 private tour are paying about five times what they would in a group. Four people split the same price and the gap shrinks. Six in a minibus and it starts to look sensible.
Private also wins when you have a child who needs breaks, someone with reduced mobility, or a fixed flight. It also wins if you want to add a lagoon or leave at an odd hour.
Our honest take
Don’t book private for a couple unless the schedule is the point. A small group or a good bus will show you the same waterfall for a fraction of the money, and the Golden Circle is not a place where a smaller crowd changes what you see. Our comparison of private, small-group and big-bus tours covers the trade-off in general.
If you do go private, the €450 to €800 listings are the sensible ones, and a family of four gets the best value. Pay more only for something specific, like the hot spring in 20218. Whichever you pick, confirm the group limit and what pickup covers, because that is where private tours surprise people.
