Our take on this one
Out of the base at Gufunes into Reykjavík bay on Sea-Doo GTI and GTX machines, with the city, the Harpa and the Sun Voyager on one side and Viðey island on the other. Three hours in total, two of them actually riding, and the difference is the kit: you are put into a drysuit over a fleece undersuit with boots, gloves, helmet and lifejacket, because bare-legged jet skiing in Iceland is not a thing. Graded moderate, minimum age 12, and you should bring dry socks and a towel. Two departures, 09:00 and 12:00, all year. It is an expensive two hours, and it is also the only way we know to see the city from the water at speed.
- Book it if
- Confident people who want a fast, physical hour or two on the water rather than a boat trip they sit through.
- Skip it if
- The bay is exposed and cold, and there is no scenery here you cannot get from a whale boat for a third of the price.

About this experience
In this 3 hour jet ski adventure you will explore the Bay of Reykjavík and check out all of its coolest spots including Viðey, Harpa and Sun voyager. We start at our base in Gufunes, where you’ll get suited up in a warm, waterproof drysuit with a fleece layer underneath — perfect for Iceland’s unpredictable weather.
We will head out onto the bay on Sea doo Gti/Gtx 130 Jet skis. They are powerful, stable and really fun to play around.

Cancellation for this tour
Free cancellation until 24 hours before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.
If the weather cancels this tour
Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is storm-force wind — rain and mud do not cancel it. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.
- 1Reykjavík Jet Skis decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
- 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
- 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.
What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 1 day before departure, the operator's policy after that.

Why this one and not the cheaper one?
The nearest cheaper Superview - ATV Reykjavik VIKING RIDERS Adventures from ATV Reykjavik VIKING RIDERS is €169 — €73 less. Here is every difference we can actually measure.
| Reykjavík Jet Skis · €242 | ATV Reykjavik VIKING RIDERS · €169 | |
|---|---|---|
| How long it runs | 3 hours | 3.5 hours |
On everything we can measure, the ATV Reykjavik VIKING RIDERS tour is the better buy. The €73 is not buying anything we can point to, so unless you want this operator in particular, take the cheaper one.
Sold out on your date?
Seats come back — a cancellation, or the operator adding a vehicle. Tell us the date and we will check once a day and email you if one opens. One email, then we delete the address; nothing else is ever sent to it.
Who this is not for
- Not for families with children under 12 — the operator will not take them, even with a parent.
Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.
Why we list it

Had a fabulous time on this tour. Our group had thrill seekers and overly cautious riders and we all had a blast seeing the arctic puffins and enjoying the views. Great staff, too. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend!

Great experience. Did with 10 year old son and had wonderful time with loads of fun. Simple to operate jetskis. Saw tons of puffins on and around the island and even saw a seal! Jetskis can go at 80 km per hour for adrenaline junkies.

Me and my dad had an awesome time here!! We were in Iceland on a Viking Cruise and decided to do this instead of one of the cruise excursions and we’re so glad we did. The two brothers who own the place were super nice and made the whole experience really fun from start to finish. The jet skis were a blast, getting to ride out to Puffin Island was so cool.. We also got to see the outskirts of the city from the water, which was such a unique view you don’t get any other way. This is a must!! 100% recommend for anyone looking for something fun to do here!

Awesome experience in jet skis and puffins. This was an awesome and great experience. Riding jet skis in Reykjavik was an incredible experience, and feeling the air was fantastic. Getting up close to the puffins was eye opening. We saw so many in their natural elements. Truly fantastic. Our guides were courteous and accommodating. They made sure we weren't wet or cold. The jet skis were perfect. Highly recommended here.

ATV & buggy — questions people ask
Where can you ride ATVs in Iceland?
In two very different places on this site. Near Reykjavík, the Hafnarfjörður lava fields, twenty minutes from town, host the ATV combos with caving, horses and whale watching (/experience/292/, /experience/1603/). In the Westfjords, Activity Tours runs one-hour and three-hour rides from Drangsnes and Djúpavík on the Strandir coast (/experience/1176229/, /experience/1167831/), with fjord views and almost no other traffic. The Westfjords rides are better; Reykjavík is easier to reach.
Do I need a driving licence to ride an ATV in Iceland?
Yes, a full valid car licence to drive one. Passengers ride behind the driver and do not need a licence, but minimum ages apply for both; check the tour page. Bring the physical licence card. Standard pricing puts two people on one ATV, with a single-rider supplement if you want your own. Buggies (/experience/7689/) are side-by-side and more car-like, if you are unsure about balancing an ATV.
What do I wear for an ATV tour?
Old clothes and closed shoes. The operator gives you a helmet, overalls, gloves and often a balaclava, because Icelandic tracks are mud in summer and slush in winter and you will get sprayed. Wear warm layers underneath; you are sitting still in the wind. Sunglasses or goggles help with grit. Leave anything white at the hotel. A shower afterwards is not optional.
Is ATV riding in Iceland dangerous?
It carries real risk, which is why the licence rules exist. You ride in a line behind a guide at a set pace on marked tracks, so the danger is mostly in overconfidence on loose gravel or steep sections. Follow the guide's speed and keep your feet on the footrests. Travel insurance that covers motorised activities is worth checking before you book; some standard policies exclude ATVs.
