About this experience

Viðey Jet Ski Tour w/ Lunch or dinner stop

A high-speed adventure with puffins, ocean views, and a serene beachside meal on Viðey.

Set off on a unique three-hour private jet ski tour that begins with a ride to Lundey (Puffin Island) — home to around 10,000 puffins during the summer months. This tour offers the perfect balance of wildlife viewing, adrenaline-pumping jet skiing, and a peaceful dining stop on a remote beach in Viðey.

What’s the tour like?

The journey starts at our base in Gufunes, where you’ll gear up with a high-quality drysuit and warm underlayer to stay warm and dry no matter the conditions. After a full safety briefing with our experienced guide, we hit the water and cruise toward Lundey, where puffins can be seen nesting and flying over the waves from May to late August.

After birdwatching and scenic photo stops near Lundey, we continue our ride across Reykjavík Bay to a secluded beach on Viðey Island. Here, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner, served in a peaceful coastal setting with views of the ocean and mountains. Take time to relax, explore the area, or dip your toes in the sea before hopping back on the jet ski for the return ride.

Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to ride freely in calm, open water, always with your guide close by to assist, share local insights, and capture great photos.

Had a fabulous time on this tour. Our group had thrill seekers and overly cautious riders and we all had a blast seeing the arctic puffins and enjoying the views. Great staff, too. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend!

Great experience. Did with 10 year old son and had wonderful time with loads of fun. Simple to operate jetskis. Saw tons of puffins on and around the island and even saw a seal! Jetskis can go at 80 km per hour for adrenaline junkies.

Highly recommended experience! Reykjavík Jetskis has such a fun and unique operation. I was never cold, their suits are great. I was a solo traveler and they made me feel comfortable and let me take my time when we reached the Puffins. It was a little scary at first, as I had never jet skied, but I was able to do donuts by the time I was done. This is for sure an experience I will look back and remember forever.

Me and my dad had an awesome time here!! We were in Iceland on a Viking Cruise and decided to do this instead of one of the cruise excursions and we’re so glad we did. The two brothers who own the place were super nice and made the whole experience really fun from start to finish. The jet skis were a blast, getting to ride out to Puffin Island was so cool.. We also got to see the outskirts of the city from the water, which was such a unique view you don’t get any other way. This is a must!! 100% recommend for anyone looking for something fun to do here!

Airport transfers — questions people ask

How do I get from Keflavík Airport to Reykjavík?

It is about 50 kilometres and 45 minutes by road; there is no train. Scheduled airport coaches run to the BSÍ terminal after every arrival and are the cheapest option. Private transfers (/experience/942190/, /experience/1193487/) meet you at the door and drop you at your hotel, worth it for families or late arrivals. Taxis are expensive. If you are stopping at the Blue Lagoon, book a transfer that includes it (/experience/1036423/).

How early should I be at Keflavík Airport for my flight?

Two and a half hours before a European flight and three before North America; the airport is small and queues bunch around the morning and afternoon departure waves. From central Reykjavík allow 45 to 60 minutes' driving plus a buffer in winter weather. That means leaving your hotel three and a half to four hours before departure. Coaches and transfers work backwards from your flight time when you book.

How do I get to Landmannalaugar without a 4x4?

By highland bus. From late June to September, scheduled transfers run from Reykjavík to Landmannalaugar (/experience/247406/, /experience/914986/) and back, about four hours each way on gravel and river crossings. The return-in-a-day option (/experience/270187/) gives you several hours at the site. Rental cars without 4x4 are not insured on these roads and get stuck. If you are hiking Laugavegur, the luggage transfer (/experience/1036525/) moves your bag hut to hut.

Is a private airport transfer worth it?

For three or more people, or a night arrival, yes. The coach drops you at a terminal or a hotel bus stop and you may need a shuttle or a walk with luggage; a private car goes door to door and waits if your flight is late. For a couple on a daytime flight with light bags, the coach is fine and much cheaper. Check the tour page for what happens if your flight is delayed.
