The Penis museum is located in the heart of Reykjavík and is the most visited museum in Iceland. A visit offers a unique experience where the Phallus theme is taken all the way, both in the museum and also in our Phallus Café and Bistro. Tickets for children 12 years and younger are FREE of charge in the company of adults, Please collect children tickets at our front desk. 

Next to our main entrance there is a entrance where you can take an elevator down to the cellar (floor 0). When you exit the elevator our entrance will be on your right hand.

    I really enjoyed my time here. I love seeing geeks talk so deeply about the topic they are passionate about. Very cool museum. Learning about all sorts of facts about mating habits of animals was very interesting. Reading some things about the exibits reminds you that men are animals just like any other, even though we like to believe we are evolved. There are definitely some pxnis owners that act like animals, seals for example! Worth it. We spent approximately 2 hours there. We didn't try the little bistro, but I did see gluten-free and vegan options.

    Visiting the Icelandic Phallological Museum was honestly one of the weirdest but funniest experiences I’ve ever had. It’s definitely not your typical museum, but that’s exactly what makes it so memorable. It’s completely one of a kind and you won’t find anything else like it anywhere else in the world. The whole place has this quirky, slightly awkward vibe that somehow makes it even more entertaining. I was laughing half the time just because of how unexpected everything was. It’s strange, yes, but in a genuinely fascinating and light-hearted way. And I have to mention the strawberry penis-shaped waffles from the café. Absolutely amazing 10/10. They smelled incredible and tasted even better. So fresh, sweet and completely mouthwatering. I would go back just for those alone. If you’re in Reykjavik and want something different, funny and unforgettable, this place is definitely worth a visit.

    Quirky, funny and educational if you choose to read everything available. We bought a drink and spent approx 30 minutes viewing the exhibits. At some point it does become just a wee bit too much - penises are everywhere. The gift shop had some interesting items but nothing that ended up in my suitcase for friends/family.

    Only museum of its kind in the world. There were over 300 specimens and it was an interesting way to spend our first day in Iceland. The museum was smaller than I expected, but overall fun experience

City tours — questions people ask

Do I need a city tour of Reykjavík?

Probably not. Reykjavík's centre is small enough to walk end to end in twenty minutes, and Hallgrímskirkja, Harpa, the Old Harbour and Laugavegur are all on the way. A short driven tour (/experience/1194803/) makes sense if you have limited mobility, a few hours between a flight and a tour, or want the outer sights like Perlan and Grótta without a bus. Otherwise, walk, and spend the money on a food walk.

How many days do you need in Reykjavík?

One full day for the city itself, plus however many days you use it as a base for tours. Most people spend the first and last nights here and take day trips to the Golden Circle, the South Coast and the sea. Three to four nights in Reykjavík with three day tours is a sensible first Iceland trip. Longer than that, move on; the country is the point.

What is the Imagine Peace Tower and when is it lit?

A column of light on Viðey island, just off Reykjavík, dedicated by Yoko Ono to John Lennon. It is lit each year from 9 October, Lennon's birthday, to 8 December, the date he died, plus a few other dates including New Year. Elding runs an evening ferry and walk to the tower (/experience/1301/) during the lighting season. Outside those dates the island is still worth an hour for the walk and Richard Serra's sculptures.

Is Viðey island worth visiting?

For a quiet two hours, yes. The ferry (/experience/1539/) takes twenty minutes from the Old Harbour in summer and five from Skarfabakki all year. There is a cafe in the old house, a small church, walking paths and views back across the city. Nothing on it is dramatic, and it is exposed to wind, so pick a calm day. It suits a spare afternoon better than a planned one.
