About this experience

Explore Icons & Ice by Glacier Truck

Prepare for an exclusive adventure designed just for your group. Embark on an epic day packed with Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders and a thrilling journey onto a vast ice cap. This private Moonwalker tour combines the famous Golden Circle route with a unique adventure on Langjökull Glacier, offering a perfect blend of history, geology, and pure Icelandic excitement, guided by our team of local experts.

Journey Through the Golden Circle

Your private adventure begins with comfortable transportation from Reykjavik to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk in the footsteps of history at the birthplace of the ancient Icelandic parliament and marvel at the dramatic rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart – a visible representation of the Earth’s powerful forces.

Next, you’ll venture into the geothermal area of Haukadalur to witness the explosive power of Geysir and its active counterpart, Strokkur. Prepare for a steamy encounter as Strokkur erupts faithfully every few minutes, shooting a jet of boiling water high into the sky – a truly mesmerizing display of the geothermal energy bubbling beneath Iceland’s surface.

The third gem of the Golden Circle is the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, often called the “Golden Waterfall.” Witness the immense volume of water thundering down a wide, two-tiered drop into a rugged canyon, creating a spectacular, often misty, display of nature’s raw beauty.

Conquer Langjökull: Your Private Glacier Adventure by Super Truck

After soaking in the wonders of the Golden Circle, the adventure continues as we head towards Langjökull Glacier, Iceland’s second-largest ice cap. While comfortable transportation is provided for the road sections, the real thrill begins with your transfer to a Moonwalker Land Rover Defender Super Truck, specifically engineered for traversing the glacier surface.

Climb aboard this specialized glacier truck designed to conquer the ice. As an AIMG certified Glacier Guide leads your private group onto the vast expanse of Langjökull, they will share insights about the glacier, its formation, and its role in shaping Iceland. Experience the unique perspective from atop hundreds of meters of compressed ice – a true private glacier adventure you won’t get anywhere else.

Cancellation for this tour

Cancelling costs 10% of the price within 2 days of departure. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

If the weather cancels this tour

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a whiteout or too little snow on the approach track — decided the evening before or on the morning. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

  1. 1Moonwalker decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
  2. 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
  3. 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until the cutoff shown above, the operator's policy after that.

We had an absolutely unforgettable experience in Iceland with Bessi and Cami. We spent 8 days together, drove more than 3,000 km around the island, and visited some of the most beautiful and remote places we have ever seen. From waterfalls, glaciers, black sand beaches and lava fields to fjords, small villages and hidden spots far from the obvious tourist route, every day was carefully planned and incredibly special. Bessi is much more than a guide. He is extremely professional, knowledgeable, safe, flexible and a truly great companion on the road. He knows Iceland deeply and has a very special ability to read the day, the weather and the mood of the group. Several times, he adjusted the route to take us to an amazing place, even when that meant driving extra hours or changing the original plan. Those unexpected stops became some of the best memories of the trip. Cami was also wonderful — kind, attentive, organized and always making sure everything went smoothly. Together, they made us feel very well taken care of throughout the entire journey. The itinerary was excellent, with the perfect balance between the classic highlights and more unique places that we would never have found on our own. The hotels selected by Bessi were also very well chosen, always fitting the route and giving us comfort at the end of long and intense days. What made the trip so special was not only the beauty of Iceland, but the way Bessi and Cami helped us experience it: with calm, safety, good humor, attention to detail and genuine care. We are deeply grateful for everything they did for our family. If you are planning a trip to Iceland and want a private, thoughtful and truly memorable experience, we highly recommend Bessi and Cami. They made our trip extraordinary.

We were told that we must use Moonwalker Tours and Bessi on our trip to Iceland. Best advice for any trip we’ve taken! Bessi and Cami were perfect for our family of 5. Bessi is so personable and knowledgeable you find yourself quickly becoming friends rather than a tour guide. The stops and off the path places he took us was way beyond our expectations. His ability to connect to all three of our kiddos (ages 13-21) was amazing. Then add Cami to the trip to take the experience over the top. Thank you Bessi for 3 unforgettable days in Iceland. We will see you again!

We had the best experience on our day tour to the Landmannalaugar area with Bessi and Cami. Bessi is personable, funny and kind. And he took us to see things that surprised us, even after having researching our trip a lot and after already driving the ring road and seeing the sights along it. Highly recommend!

Snowmobiling — questions people ask

Can you go snowmobiling in Iceland in summer?

Yes. Snowmobile tours run on Langjökull glacier all year because there is always snow on top. Tours leave from the Geysir area near Gullfoss (/experience/9999/), from Húsafell in the west, or from Reykjavík with transport (/experience/2874/). In June to August the snow is softer and the light is long; in winter the surface is firmer and the views are whiter. Both are fine. Weather cancels tours at any time of year.

Do I need a driving licence to drive a snowmobile?

Yes, a full valid driving licence to drive. Passengers do not need one and ride behind the driver. Standard pricing is two people per snowmobile; if you want to drive alone, most tours sell a single-rider supplement, and the tour page lists it. Minimum ages apply for passengers as well as drivers. Bring your physical licence card; a photo on your phone is sometimes refused.

What is included on a snowmobile tour?

The snowmobile, fuel, a helmet, balaclava, insulated overalls, gloves and boots, plus a guide leading the group across the glacier for roughly an hour of riding. Transport up the glacier from base camp in a modified truck is included; transport from Reykjavík is only included on the versions that say so. Bring your own warm base layers, sunglasses and a camera. Lunch is not included unless the page says it is.

Is snowmobiling worth combining with the Golden Circle?

If you have one spare day and want both, yes. The combined tour (/experience/17762/) does Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss then drives you up Langjökull for an hour on the snowmobiles, about ten hours in total. The downside is pace: the Golden Circle stops are shorter than on a plain sightseeing day. If you have two days, do the Golden Circle properly and snowmobile from Geysir on the second.
