About this experience
Join us for a private bespoke Golden Circle journey in a luxury vehicle, where Iceland’s most celebrated landscapes unfold at your pace. This tour blends history, geology, and natural beauty while allowing flexibility to tailor stops around your interests. Whether you prefer scenic walks, geothermal bathing, cultural visits, or culinary experiences, your guide shapes the day to suit you.
Departing from Reykjavik, you travel through farmland and lava fields toward Iceland’s most famous sightseeing circuit. The Golden Circle’s core highlights include the UNESCO-listed Þingvellir National Park, the erupting hot springs of Geysir Geothermal Area, and the dramatic cascade of Gullfoss Waterfall. Along the way, optional stops add depth and personalization — from geothermal spas to greenhouse dining.
At Þingvellir, you stand between continents where Iceland’s parliament was founded in 930. Walk the Almannagjá rift valley, admire Öxaráfoss waterfall, and witness the tectonic plates slowly drifting apart. The park also marks Iceland’s conversion to Christianity and remains a place of deep cultural importance.
At Gullfoss, glacial meltwater plunges dramatically into a canyon, often cloaked in mist and rainbows. The waterfall’s preservation story highlights Iceland’s early environmental awareness.
The geothermal landscape of Geysir introduces bubbling pools and erupting geysers. While the original Geysir is mostly dormant, Strokkur erupts every few minutes, sending steaming water skyward.
Beyond the classic trio, guests may choose to explore the vivid red slopes of Kerið Crater, relax in geothermal waters, snorkel between tectonic plates, or dine inside a tomato greenhouse. Each addition transforms the tour into a deeply personal experience.
This private luxury Golden Circle tour is designed for travelers who want flexibility, comfort, and meaningful storytelling — not just sightseeing.
Optional activities (for an additional fee):
Snorkel between the continents in SilfraSilfra is a fissure between the North American and Eurasian continental plates. Silfra constantly fills with glacial melt water from Langjökull, trickling through underground lava rock for 30 years. This remarkable crack between two tectonic plates is filled with the clearest water on our planet, allowing for over 100 meters of visibility.
On the snorkeling tour, we will dress you in a dry suit and guide you through the four parts of the Silfra fissure. Floating through Silfra's crystal-clear water is an otherworldly experience. The near-freezing water, stunning colors, and flying sensations provide a unique environment for liquid meditation that you will never forget.
Laugarvatn FontanaIn Fontana Spa, you can enjoy relaxing in geothermal hot pools. Soak in a natural pool, listen to the bubbling hot spring in the steam rooms, or take a dip in the refreshing lake for the more venturesome.
Lauga, Sæla, and Viska are connected outdoor mineral baths that vary in depth, size, and temperature. The pools and hot tub are perfect for both relaxation and recreation, featuring playful artwork in stone made by Icelandic artist Erla Thorarinsdottir.
Viska, the hot tub, is built at a slightly higher level, providing a panoramic view of the beautiful surroundings. Since 1929, locals have been enjoying the healing powers of the natural steam baths by Lake Laugarvatn. Hot, healing steam simmers directly from the ground through grids in the cabin floors of the three traditional steam rooms.
The temperature of the steam varies depending on the temperature of the hot spring and the weather. It is usually between 40°C (104°F) and 50°C (122°F). Humidity is very high in the steam room cabins. Grids in the floor of the steam rooms allow guests to hear and smell the boiling natural hot spring right underneath, creating a natural and unique experience.
Completing the ensemble is the lake itself and the beach. Bathers can walk from a pier to the calm lake or on the warm black sand beach. A cool dip between the hot steam rooms and sauna is a refreshing temperature shift for a healthy heart. Cold bathing is believed to have beneficial health effects, such as improving blood circulation and speeding up muscle soreness and recovery. It has also benefited those with arthritis and other joint illnesses.
Secret LagoonThe Secret Lagoon, known locally as Gamla laugin (the Old Pool), is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. It was made in 1891 at Hverahólmur, a geothermal area near Flúðir.
What makes the place unique is the rich natural resources of warm water coming from hot springs. Vaðmálahver, Básahver, or Litli Geysir (active geyser which spouts every few minutes, showing off for the guests), provide 100% of the water supply in the lagoon.
The pool water flows continuously, and it takes only 24 hours for its complete replacement. Warm, clean, and rich in sulfur, it stays at 38-40 degrees Celsius all year round.
Centuries ago, people used the hot springs of Hverahólmur to wash their clothes and bathe. The Old Pool was where people were taught how to swim between 1909 and 1947. However, after that, the pool fell into disrepair, and people slowly forgot about it. In 2005, it was decided to give it a second life. The idea was to make the pool more comfortable than it had been but still authentic, and, in the end, the Secret Lagoon was born and opened in June 2014.
The Secret Lagoon has been kept natural, simple, and unique for you to get the authentic Icelandic experience.
Friðheimar Tomato FarmHave you ever been out for a meal in a greenhouse? Enjoy a unique food experience at Friðheimar Greenhouse restaurant, with tomatoes growing all around. Tomato soup, fresh-baked bread, and other goodies in a charming environment among the plants.
As the name suggests, tomatoes are grown all year round, despite Iceland's long dark winters. They use artificial lighting in greenhouses to do that. Visitors can enjoy a taste of their crop, and many agree you will get the best tomato soup you will ever taste there.
The farm grows about 370 tonnes of vegetables yearly (primarily tomatoes and cucumbers).
All additional activities that extend the tour duration will incur separate charges. Examples of such activities include visiting the Blue Lagoon, glacier hiking, snowmobiling, and similar excursions. Additionally, the tour price will increase for each hour added beyond the standard duration of the tour.

Cancellation for this tour
Free cancellation until 24 hours before departure; no refund after that. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.
If the weather cancels this tour
Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a forecast the operator judges unsafe. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.
- 1Your Friend in Reykjavik decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
- 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
- 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.
What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until 1 day before departure, the operator's policy after that.

Sold out on your date?
Seats come back — a cancellation, or the operator adding a vehicle. Tell us the date and we will check once a day and email you if one opens. One email, then we delete the address; nothing else is ever sent to it.
Who this is not for
- Not for late risers on your first morning — the earliest departure is 06:00, and Reykjavík pickups start before that.
- Priced per vehicle, so it is poor value for one or two people and good value for four or more sharing.
Read off the operator's own conditions. If none of it applies to you, this is a good one.

Petra was an incredible guide. We asked her to show us as much as she could before taking our crazy family of 10 to the airport for our flights to three different cities ! First stop was the beautiful church in downtown Reykjavik that had just opened with an organ recital. Next stop a lovely spot and observation sight overlooking the city by the Pearl. Cold and wet she found us a lovely coffee shop with the best pastries for a welcome mid morning rest next to the sea. Back in the van we drove for a bit before having the opportunity to explore a geothermal field on our way to the airport. A perfect day and ending to our time in Iceland. Petra shared alot of history and information from the perspective of a local which we all appreciated and enjoyed!

Airport transfers — questions people ask
How do I get from Keflavík Airport to Reykjavík?
It is about 50 kilometres and 45 minutes by road; there is no train. Scheduled airport coaches run to the BSÍ terminal after every arrival and are the cheapest option. Private transfers (/experience/942190/, /experience/1193487/) meet you at the door and drop you at your hotel, worth it for families or late arrivals. Taxis are expensive. If you are stopping at the Blue Lagoon, book a transfer that includes it (/experience/1036423/).
How early should I be at Keflavík Airport for my flight?
Two and a half hours before a European flight and three before North America; the airport is small and queues bunch around the morning and afternoon departure waves. From central Reykjavík allow 45 to 60 minutes' driving plus a buffer in winter weather. That means leaving your hotel three and a half to four hours before departure. Coaches and transfers work backwards from your flight time when you book.
How do I get to Landmannalaugar without a 4x4?
By highland bus. From late June to September, scheduled transfers run from Reykjavík to Landmannalaugar (/experience/247406/, /experience/914986/) and back, about four hours each way on gravel and river crossings. The return-in-a-day option (/experience/270187/) gives you several hours at the site. Rental cars without 4x4 are not insured on these roads and get stuck. If you are hiking Laugavegur, the luggage transfer (/experience/1036525/) moves your bag hut to hut.
Is a private airport transfer worth it?
For three or more people, or a night arrival, yes. The coach drops you at a terminal or a hotel bus stop and you may need a shuttle or a walk with luggage; a private car goes door to door and waits if your flight is late. For a couple on a daytime flight with light bags, the coach is fine and much cheaper. Check the tour page for what happens if your flight is delayed.
