About this experience

Hrísey is the pearl of Eyjafjörður and a truly unique place. E-bike is a great way to discover the island.

We meet upp in árskógsandur Village by the ferry. Taking the ferry over to the island in it self is a great experience, in good weather. We then explore the charming village getting to know the area and the bikes, when comfortable we hit the trails leading to the lighthouse on the top of the island.
Stunning views in all directions, the fresh sea breeze and unique feeling of the island should leave no one disappointed.

When the tour is over you can choose weather to go back on the ferry with your guide or if you want to prolong your stay to visit the public geothermal baths, eat at the restaurant or have a strol on the island, taking a later ferry to the mainland.

What fantastic tour! We are new to Ebike mountain biking and it was great! Thor took us along gravel and grassy trails along the river and across a small suspension bridge. Midway we stopped at Vellir Dalvik, an organic food shop and picked some homemade cheeses. Our tour ended with a picnic tasting Icelandic foods and a ride in the harbor area of town.

Another great way to explore Island is to take an e-bike ride with Thor at Northtrails out of Dalvik. We had a nice little stop at local store for fresh berries and mouth watering cheese. Then Thor provided local tastings at the end of the ride. I highly recommend this adventure.

Hrísey island day trip from AkureyriHrísey is a ferry hop from Árskógssandur, 20 minutes from Akureyri. Take the €235 guided e-bike tour with ferry included, or go on your own and keep the day cheap.
Mountain biking in North Iceland: Mývatn or DalvíkMývatn is for an easy ride and a soak, May to September. Dalvík and Hrísey are for real trail riding on e-bikes, June to August only.
