About this experience
Experience nature from its core by bathing in the geothermal baths at Krauma. The hot water originates in Europe’s most powerful hot spring Deildartunguhver, at a temperature of 100°C (212°F). No extra chemicals are needed to keep the pools clean, as the water is constantly being replaced because of the rapid natural flow rate of the hot springs. The changing room has a separate locker for every guest.
Krauma offers five relaxing natural geothermal baths, a cold tub to get your blood circulation going, steam room, Infrared cell and a relaxation room where you can rest by the fireplace while listening to soothing music.
Krauma Restaurant serves Icelandic cuisine from the freshest local farm produced ingredients. Relax in the comfortable environment of the restaurant while enjoying the spectacular view of Europe's most powerful hot spring.
The bar offers a wide selection of drinks and snacks and is well suited to relax and unwind at the end of the day. The restaurant and bar are open all year round and can seat 60 guests inside and another 50 outside on the terrace if weather permits.

Very nice! I loved that it wasn’t crowded. I loved that they didn’t have music playing outside at the hot pools. It’s fun to sit in the hot pool and look out at the furiously naturally boiling water just down the hill. What a sight! Also very yummy food.

We didn't do the hot springs SPA but came to for the dinner. I really like to give a 6 stars to the meals we ordered. I think this restaurant is the best in town. Good service and atmosphere 😍 Highly recommended 👍

Top. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely outstanding experience. Krauma is a unique place, immersed in Icelandic nature, where relaxation is total. The geothermal pools, fed by the powerful Deildartunguhver hot spring, offer different temperatures so everyone can find the perfect one. The setting is modern, elegant, and at the same time authentic, with beautiful saunas, a steam room, and very atmospheric relaxation areas. The atmosphere is peaceful and never overcrowded, the staff are kind and professional, and the facilities are spotless. After just a few minutes, you feel completely renewed. A must-do experience in Iceland for anyone seeking wellness, silence, and breathtaking landscapes. Highly recommended.

As a tour leader who has visited many geothermal spas across Iceland with travelers from all over the world, I can honestly say that Krauma offers one of the most relaxing and authentic spa experiences in the country. If you’re looking for a peaceful alternative to the larger and more crowded lagoons, this is a place you shouldn’t miss. What makes Krauma truly unique is its connection to Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. The naturally hot geothermal water is carefully mixed with fresh glacial water, creating pools that are always at a comfortable temperature. Knowing that you’re bathing in water coming directly from one of Iceland’s most remarkable geothermal sources makes the experience even more special. One of the things I appreciate most whenever I bring guests here is the calm atmosphere. Unlike some of the more famous lagoons, Krauma never feels overwhelming. It’s quiet, beautifully designed, and surrounded by stunning Icelandic scenery. Whether you’re visiting after a long day of sightseeing or simply looking for a place to unwind, it’s incredibly easy to relax here. The facilities are exceptionally clean and well maintained, and the staff are always welcoming and professional. I also recommend taking some time to enjoy the relaxation room and the steam bath. The combination of warm geothermal water, fresh Icelandic air, and the peaceful surroundings creates an experience that’s difficult to describe until you’ve experienced it yourself. Another reason I often recommend Krauma to my tour groups is that it feels genuinely Icelandic. Instead of focusing on crowds or social media photos, the emphasis is on relaxation, nature, and well-being. Many of my guests tell me afterward that they actually enjoyed Krauma more than some of Iceland’s larger and more famous geothermal spas because it felt more intimate and authentic. If you’re traveling through West Iceland, I highly recommend adding Krauma to your itinerary. It’s the perfect place to recharge both your body and your mind. After visiting many times over the years, I still enjoy every visit, and that’s probably the best recommendation I can give. It’s peaceful, beautifully designed, and one of Iceland’s hidden gems that deserves far more recognition.

Lagoons & spas — questions people ask
Is the Blue Lagoon worth it or is it too touristy?
It is busy and it is worth it, once. The water is milky blue from silica, the setting in the Reykjanes lava is unlike anywhere else, and it sits twenty minutes from Keflavík Airport, so it fits an arrival or departure day. Book a time slot in advance; it sells out. If crowds bother you, go early morning or after 20:00. The Secret Lagoon or Fontana on the Golden Circle are calmer and cheaper alternatives.
Can I do the Blue Lagoon on the way to or from the airport?
Yes, and it is the best way to use it. Transfers like IceTransfer's Keflavík to Blue Lagoon to Reykjavík (/experience/1036423/) or the reverse (/experience/1036419/) stop at the lagoon for a few hours with your luggage stored. Allow at least three hours at the lagoon and check that your slot lines up with your flight. Note that the Reykjanes eruptions have closed the lagoon at short notice; check its status before travelling.
What is the difference between the Secret Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon?
The Secret Lagoon at Flúðir is a simple, warm geothermal pool with a bubbling hot spring beside it and basic changing rooms. It is on the Golden Circle, so it slots into a sightseeing day (/experience/17050/, /experience/624446/). The Blue Lagoon is a spa: silica masks, swim-up bar, saunas and a price to match. If you want a soak after a day of waterfalls, Secret Lagoon. If you want the spa day, Blue Lagoon.
Do I have to shower naked before a pool in Iceland?
Yes, at every public pool and most lagoons. Swimwear off, wash thoroughly with soap, swimwear on, then into the water. It is a hygiene rule because Icelandic pools use very little chlorine, and it is taken seriously. Changing rooms are single-sex with open showers; some larger lagoons have a few private cubicles. Nobody looks. It feels odd for thirty seconds and then it does not.
