Cancellation for this tour

Cancelling costs 10% of the price within 365 days of departure, rising to 50% within 7 days. If the operator cancels for weather or safety, you get a full refund or a new date.

If the weather cancels this tour

Iceland's weather is real. What usually stops this one is a forecast the operator judges unsafe. Here is exactly what happens to your booking.

  1. 1Reykjavik Bike Tours decides, and tells us. Operators cancel when it is unsafe or pointless, and we back that call every time — we do not ask them to run anyway.
  2. 2We contact you by email, and by phone if your tour is the same or next day. You choose: another date if there is one you can make, or a full refund. There is no fee and nothing to argue.
  3. 3The refund goes back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, usually visible within a few working days. If this tour was one of several in your booking, the others are untouched.

What you do not get is the day back. If this is the only free day in your plan, put a spare day next to it — the planner leaves days free with the rest-day option. And if you want out because the forecast looks bad, that is your own cancellation: free until the cutoff shown above, the operator's policy after that.

Had a wonderful time on the Nature of Reykjavik bike tour - saw so many beautiful places! Our guide, Adam, was very knowledgeable of the historical and natural sites along the route, answered all our questions, provided recommendations for food (I have celiac so it was nice to have some advice on both places to avoid and that can accommodate dietary restrictions),... We had a smaller group so there was some flexibility in where we stopped and the overall route we took, catering to the groups interests and past experiences. This was my 3rd time in Iceland but some of the other's first time, so I really appreciated that he was flexible and took the time to ask.

I needed to rent a good quality bike to cycle coast to coast across Iceland as part of an organised event in Aug 2026. Tomas and Iga were both really easy to communicate with before my rental to make sure I got exactly the right bike for me. The price was very good and the bike they supplied me was perfect for the job at hand. It was freshly serviced, had new good quality racing tyres and was rapid to ride. Thanks to their help, support and supplying the right bike I was the fastest rider in our group and crossed the island in just 6 days seeing some remarkable sights along the way. Thanks Reykjavik Bike tours for looking after me and supporting my endeavours.

We had an amazing tour for 3 people this weekend, with Adam as our guide. This was our first visit to Iceland, and the bike tour was the perfect way to learn about the rich and diverse natural beauty surrounding Reykjavik. Adam added so much more, sharing insights into local life, food, history, and arts. A delightful tour. Highly recommended. (Some may find e bikes are needed as there were a just one or two fairly steep hills along the route.)

Can I give more than five stars? We did the Classic Reykjavik Bike Tour and they were from the start they were great. The registration, with Iga, was friendly and easy, and when we needed to make changes, they were very flexible. Once tour day arrived, the bikes were ready and all in good shape. Then, we met our guide George. He is the tops. He knows Reykjavik history well and tells it in a funny and engaging way. He knows his way around town and was very attentive to all riders (he was able to handle a group of fourteen riders, by himself, through the crowded streets of Reykjavik! An amazing feet by itself). We enjoyed all the stops, with George's narrative being both informative and comedic. We highly recommend this tour!

City tours — questions people ask

Do I need a city tour of Reykjavík?

Probably not. Reykjavík's centre is small enough to walk end to end in twenty minutes, and Hallgrímskirkja, Harpa, the Old Harbour and Laugavegur are all on the way. A short driven tour (/experience/1194803/) makes sense if you have limited mobility, a few hours between a flight and a tour, or want the outer sights like Perlan and Grótta without a bus. Otherwise, walk, and spend the money on a food walk.

How many days do you need in Reykjavík?

One full day for the city itself, plus however many days you use it as a base for tours. Most people spend the first and last nights here and take day trips to the Golden Circle, the South Coast and the sea. Three to four nights in Reykjavík with three day tours is a sensible first Iceland trip. Longer than that, move on; the country is the point.

What is the Imagine Peace Tower and when is it lit?

A column of light on Viðey island, just off Reykjavík, dedicated by Yoko Ono to John Lennon. It is lit each year from 9 October, Lennon's birthday, to 8 December, the date he died, plus a few other dates including New Year. Elding runs an evening ferry and walk to the tower (/experience/1301/) during the lighting season. Outside those dates the island is still worth an hour for the walk and Richard Serra's sculptures.

Is Viðey island worth visiting?

For a quiet two hours, yes. The ferry (/experience/1539/) takes twenty minutes from the Old Harbour in summer and five from Skarfabakki all year. There is a cafe in the old house, a small church, walking paths and views back across the city. Nothing on it is dramatic, and it is exposed to wind, so pick a calm day. It suits a spare afternoon better than a planned one.
