About this experience

Hvammsvík Hot Springs Private Jet Ski Tour

A once-in-a-lifetime ride through Iceland’s wild coastline, with puffins and other wildlife sightings and waterfalls. Ending at one of Icelands most iconic geothermal baths.

This private tour offers a rare combination of adventure and relaxation. You'll ride your own jet ski along Reykjavík’s coastline into the breathtaking Hvalfjörður fjord. Along the way, you’ll explore untouched nature, spot wildlife, visit waterfalls streaming directly into the ocean, and finish your ride with a warm welcome at the stunning Hvammsvík Hot Springs.

This is an exclusive, private experience, ideal for couples, adventurers, or anyone looking for a powerful blend of adrenaline and serenity.

Please note that this tour can also be done the other way around (starting from Hvammsvík baths and ending in Reykjavík) depending on your preferences

What’s the tour like?

The tour begins at our base in Gufunes, where we’ll gear you up with a thermal fleece base layer and waterproof drysuit, ensuring warmth and comfort no matter the weather.

We will cruise on the Faxaflói bay and then make our way into the beautiful Hvalfjörður fjord. Where we will be surrounded by dramatic mountains on each side of the fjord.

Along the way, we stop near two puffin islands, which are home to thousands of puffins from early May to late August, a unique opportunity to see these colorful seabirds up close, surrounded by pristine Icelandic nature.

We also stop by two remote waterfalls that flow directly into the sea — hidden gems perfect for taking one-of-a-kind photos.

Had a fabulous time on this tour. Our group had thrill seekers and overly cautious riders and we all had a blast seeing the arctic puffins and enjoying the views. Great staff, too. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend!

Great experience. Did with 10 year old son and had wonderful time with loads of fun. Simple to operate jetskis. Saw tons of puffins on and around the island and even saw a seal! Jetskis can go at 80 km per hour for adrenaline junkies.

Me and my dad had an awesome time here!! We were in Iceland on a Viking Cruise and decided to do this instead of one of the cruise excursions and we’re so glad we did. The two brothers who own the place were super nice and made the whole experience really fun from start to finish. The jet skis were a blast, getting to ride out to Puffin Island was so cool.. We also got to see the outskirts of the city from the water, which was such a unique view you don’t get any other way. This is a must!! 100% recommend for anyone looking for something fun to do here!

Awesome experience in jet skis and puffins. This was an awesome and great experience. Riding jet skis in Reykjavik was an incredible experience, and feeling the air was fantastic. Getting up close to the puffins was eye opening. We saw so many in their natural elements. Truly fantastic. Our guides were courteous and accommodating. They made sure we weren't wet or cold. The jet skis were perfect. Highly recommended here.

Lagoons & spas — questions people ask

Is the Blue Lagoon worth it or is it too touristy?

It is busy and it is worth it, once. The water is milky blue from silica, the setting in the Reykjanes lava is unlike anywhere else, and it sits twenty minutes from Keflavík Airport, so it fits an arrival or departure day. Book a time slot in advance; it sells out. If crowds bother you, go early morning or after 20:00. The Secret Lagoon or Fontana on the Golden Circle are calmer and cheaper alternatives.

Can I do the Blue Lagoon on the way to or from the airport?

Yes, and it is the best way to use it. Transfers like IceTransfer's Keflavík to Blue Lagoon to Reykjavík (/experience/1036423/) or the reverse (/experience/1036419/) stop at the lagoon for a few hours with your luggage stored. Allow at least three hours at the lagoon and check that your slot lines up with your flight. Note that the Reykjanes eruptions have closed the lagoon at short notice; check its status before travelling.

What is the difference between the Secret Lagoon and the Blue Lagoon?

The Secret Lagoon at Flúðir is a simple, warm geothermal pool with a bubbling hot spring beside it and basic changing rooms. It is on the Golden Circle, so it slots into a sightseeing day (/experience/17050/, /experience/624446/). The Blue Lagoon is a spa: silica masks, swim-up bar, saunas and a price to match. If you want a soak after a day of waterfalls, Secret Lagoon. If you want the spa day, Blue Lagoon.

Do I have to shower naked before a pool in Iceland?

Yes, at every public pool and most lagoons. Swimwear off, wash thoroughly with soap, swimwear on, then into the water. It is a hygiene rule because Icelandic pools use very little chlorine, and it is taken seriously. Changing rooms are single-sex with open showers; some larger lagoons have a few private cubicles. Nobody looks. It feels odd for thirty seconds and then it does not.
