About this experience

Spend your last morning in Reykjavík doing anything except dragging suitcases. Leave your packed bags with hotel reception before 11:00 and walk out bag-free — your driver takes it from there.

It works with every airline flying out of KEF: you check your bags in yourself, and your driver can lend a hand at the desk.

How it works

1. Book and choose the time to meet your driver at Keflavík Airport.

2. Leave your packed bags with reception before 11:00 — no need to be there for the handoff.

3. Your driver collects them and sends a photo of your own suitcases the moment they're picked up.

4. Travel to the airport your own way, completely bag-free.

5. Meet your driver at KEF — you'll have their number, the handoff takes a few minutes, and they can help with check-in. Plans change? Just call.

Good to know

- Priced per bag — each suitcase or item counts as one, and odd-size items (skis, golf bags, bike boxes, strollers) cost the same as a regular bag.

- This is a bags-only service — you travel to the airport separately; your bags ride with us.

- Every bag is tagged and photographed at each handoff, rides in camera-equipped vehicles, and is handled by a licensed team working with the airlines and KEF airport authorities.

- Arriving by cruise ship or staying without a staffed reception? Our pickup listings cover the whole capital area and both cruise terminals, Skarfabakki and Vor.

Travelers rate BagBee 5.0 on Viator, Tripadvisor and Google — reviewers call the service seamless, faultless, a godsend.

What a genius business idea with excellent follow-through. So many travelers have super early flights or late afternoon/evening flights and don’t know what to do with their luggage in the in-between check-in for their accommodations. We were able to use BagBee the night before getting off our cruise and enjoy our last day in Reykjavik before our flight luggage-free. Communication was excellent, price was great. Such a huge help to travelers who want to explore without dragging around giant suitcases!

BagBee is a wonderful company to deal with. My travel companions and I needed our luggage picked up from the Midbakki pier while we spent our last day touring Reykjavik. They provided excellent service. They took our check in luggage straight to the airport and checked them in for us, and at our request, held our hand carryon luggage at the BSI terminal to. pick up on our way to the airport. They answered emails promptly and provided pictures of luggage location every step of the way. The employees are vetted by the police and must complete airport compliance training, also. I highly recommend using them.

Airport transfers — questions people ask

How do I get from Keflavík Airport to Reykjavík?

It is about 50 kilometres and 45 minutes by road; there is no train. Scheduled airport coaches run to the BSÍ terminal after every arrival and are the cheapest option. Private transfers (/experience/942190/, /experience/1193487/) meet you at the door and drop you at your hotel, worth it for families or late arrivals. Taxis are expensive. If you are stopping at the Blue Lagoon, book a transfer that includes it (/experience/1036423/).

How early should I be at Keflavík Airport for my flight?

Two and a half hours before a European flight and three before North America; the airport is small and queues bunch around the morning and afternoon departure waves. From central Reykjavík allow 45 to 60 minutes' driving plus a buffer in winter weather. That means leaving your hotel three and a half to four hours before departure. Coaches and transfers work backwards from your flight time when you book.

How do I get to Landmannalaugar without a 4x4?

By highland bus. From late June to September, scheduled transfers run from Reykjavík to Landmannalaugar (/experience/247406/, /experience/914986/) and back, about four hours each way on gravel and river crossings. The return-in-a-day option (/experience/270187/) gives you several hours at the site. Rental cars without 4x4 are not insured on these roads and get stuck. If you are hiking Laugavegur, the luggage transfer (/experience/1036525/) moves your bag hut to hut.

Is a private airport transfer worth it?

For three or more people, or a night arrival, yes. The coach drops you at a terminal or a hotel bus stop and you may need a shuttle or a walk with luggage; a private car goes door to door and waits if your flight is late. For a couple on a daytime flight with light bags, the coach is fine and much cheaper. Check the tour page for what happens if your flight is delayed.
